A Little Bit Sporty?

This goes against everything I believe in, BUT I know I’m often in the minority when it comes to people’s love of sports, seeing as I don’t love sports at all. At my own wedding I did wear a Denver Broncos garter, and some I heart Broncos underwear. Only things that couldn’t be seen, for my husband, who is a huge sports fan….huge.

Sports are really important to many men, and many women too! But let it be known, keeping it tasteful, subtle and simple is key. I discourage doing sports colors in your bridesmaid dresses or groomsmen suits. Go for sports shoes, or sports boutonnieres.  Sporty Save the Dates are cute, Sporty wedding cakes, not so much.

Here are some of the least-tacky things I could find…enjoy sports fans. (click photos for source)

Tying the Knot

Love rope knots! It’s a bit nautical, but I think if you do just a few things, it can look more bridal and less “by the sea” unless that’s what your going for. Its also cheap, and can be easily dyed. (click photos for source)

Wedding Trend: Mercury Glass and Mirrors

Wondering what Mercury Glass actually is?

A: Mercury glass is the common term for silvered glass, which describes glass that was blown double walled, then silvered between the layers with a liquid silvering solution, and sealed.

Who knew? Although that is real Mercury Glass, what you find nowadays in stores is:

There are many reproductions currently marketed as “mercury glass,” in table form, ornaments and other objects. New “mercury glass,” can be distinguished from antique silvered glass in several ways, including lack of a double wall, and solid bottoms that are different from true antique silvered glass.

Either way its super GLAM! I love it. It can be both rustic and polished looking. Along side Mercury Glass is the more traditional mirrored look. Mirrors can be purchased in many forms, and used for all sorts of decorations. They help reflect light and make things glow and multiply, giving your centerpieces more “body” great if your on a budget! (Click photos for source)
